Minem
MINEM
is funded by the European Commission, through the European Year
of Workers Mobility 2006, and by the East of England Development
Agency.
Community Action Dacorum in Hemel Hempstead is
the project lead. We are working with partners in Bulgaria,
Spain, Poland, Portugal and the UK to
develop innovative and exciting information tools and research on
European migration.
With Serious Media we are producing an information DVD for migrant
workers, employers and policy makers. The DVD captures the experiences
of migrants working in diverse sectors across the East of England,
highlights how employers have been benefiting and what they are
doing to support their European workforce. We talk to politicians
and policy makers from the region and hear the views of those working
to support new European communities.
Working closely with Advice
for Life in the East of England we are producing information
packs for people thinking about moving to the UK to work and live.
The packs contain essential information for potential migrants and
people already in the UK about employment, housing, health, transport,
money & children and families, as well as top tips for preparing
to live and work in the UK.
In collaboration with university departments and research institutes
throughout our partner regions the MINEM project is carrying out
research on current migration flows and the experiences of migrants.
In Spain and the UK we are researching settled migrant communities
(Latin Americans in Andalusia and Italians in the East of England)
to learn lessons from past migrant experiences and support better
integration of new communities.
All research reports and information tools will be available view
and download at www.minem.eu from February 2008. To find out more
