We provide the following services for community groups:

Advice, Information and Training

We provide advice to voluntary organisations and community groups in a range of subjects; for example funding, governance and making links with public agencies or other groups. We provide information through newsletters and e-mails and training through the delivery or signposting to courses relevant to the delivery of a well run organisation. Championing CSR

Community Acton Dacorum are the lead partner on a Hertfordshire wide initiative to promote Corporate Social Responsibility. This countywide work includes Connect Dacorum (see below).

Children’s Workforce Development Engagement

We are supporting private and voluntary sector providers of service to children and young people in Hertfordshire to understand and engage in new workforce development practices being introduced through the Every Child Matters Agenda.

Community Events

We arrange a number of community events in Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Tring throughout the year. These take the form of Networking Lunches, fundraising events and street festivals.

Community Wheels

we operate a fleet of nine minibuses which we hire at competitive rates to community groups based in or serving Dacorum residents. In 2006 / 07 the buses were hired by 178 groups who transported 18,960 passengers. Each minibus is adopted by a sponsor, who receives promotion on the side of the vehicle.

Connect Dacorum

Connect Dacorum is a partnership between the business, public and voluntary sectors that actively participates in creating a better quality of life for all in the Dacorum area. We provide information and expertise on community involvement opportunities for organisations of all sizes and support our members in the delivery of their Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.

Hire of Equipment

We have a range of equipment we hire out to voluntary organisations and community groups, for example collecting tins, tea urns, tombola drums.

Payroll Services

We presently provide a payroll service to nine local voluntary organisations. This service is competitively priced and for groups to whom employing staff is new, the service we provide has taken away the concern and worry involved with PAYE and liaising with the Tax Office. Print Shop

We provide a printing facility, which can print posters, leaflets and booklets at competitive prices.

Raising the Ceiling

We work with not for profit organisations in Hertfordshire to help them develop greater financial security, communications skills, embrace social enterprise and to address other issues related to their sustainability. It does this through providing training, one-to-one support and print information.
