Championing CSR
'CSR = Corporate Social Responsibility
= the business community being engaged with and aware of its effect
on community'
The Championing CSR initiative operates across various locations
in the county with the aim of providing a co-ordinated approach
to engaging the business community into the wellbeing of the wider
community.
Activities Include:
- Developing a best practice website – www.csrherts.org.uk
to assist businesses and community good causes who want to engage
in CSR but do not know where to start
- With material from the website publishing a good practice CD,
which can be used as a training tool or individually
- Supporting the successful Connect Dacorum initiative as a model
to roll out around the county.
- Initiating CSR initiatives in Borehamwood, Broxbourne and Stevenage,
which are developed to respond to local need
- Work with Volunteer Centre Hertfordshire to prepare voluntary
and community organisations to engage with businesses –
for example in hosting employee team building volunteering
- Promote CSR to business and community group audiences at networking
events, training events and seminars
When working with businesses we promote CSR in all it's forms:
- Giving through cash donations or gifts in kind
- Being environmentally responsible
- Volunteering – individual or team building
- Providing a work placement, work experience or employment opportunity
for an individual facing disadvantage in the labour market
- Sharing professional expertise and knowledge
