Victorian Evening and "Light up a Life" celebration

The Christmas Lights switch on events at the weekend attracted hundreds of people. Down came the deluge, but supporters were undeterred.

The traditional lights switch on in Hemel Hempstead High Street attracted at least a thousand people on Saturday night although Loretta Anderson for organisers Community Action Dacorum said normally up to 3,000 folk would have been welcoming in Christmas in the old town.
