Tring
We report back on:
Tring
Christmas Lights - 27th November 2009
Taken from The Gazette (2nd December 2009)
The lights were switched on by
Mayor Penny Hearn; Grove Road School's Grace Elvins and Dundale
School's Beccy Webb, winners of the Design a Light for Christmas
competition.
The crowds enjoyed the musical performers
as well as street theatre, Morris men and children's entertainers.
Dozens of stalls selling refreshments and Christmas gifts and holding
competitions were lined along the side of the High Street as businesses
stayed open late.
Jane Randrup, from Tring Together, said "It was a truly amazing
atmosphere. The High Street was packed with thousands of people,
who all looked to be having a great time and we were so lucky with
the weather. There were so many people and local groups involved
in the night, who contributed to its successes, and we are very
grateful to them all."
Shopping trips in Tring
Run twice a month for elderly, disabled pensioners who are collected
from their homes and taken to Tesco (Tring), for shopping. An escort
is provided to assist with shopping in the store if necessary and
then they are taken back and helped in to their homes with their
purchases.
Charity Markets
These are held on Church Square, Tring, from 9 am to 12 noon.
